Frequently asked questions

Where are you located?

NW corner of Hampden and Monaco, 2 blocks east of I25, 3 blocks north of the Southmoor Light Rail station. There is free parking in front of the studio and in the Goodwill parking lot.

What is a Sipping N' Painting Hampden public class like?

It is a painting class in a fun party atmosphere with music. We provide all of the supplies, instruction and encouragement you need to paint a beautiful acrylic painting on canvas in 2 hours (Certified Bob Ross® oils classes are longer -- see details), while you listen to music. If you want to upgrade to painting on a wooden board,  just pay the bartender an extra $10 when you get there. We will instruct you step by step -- or you can choose to do your own painting with some general tips from the artist Instructor. No previous experience is needed. We sell wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and light snacks.

Do I need to sign up in advance?

Yes, like a concert, sporting event or a movie, you must first pay for your seat before class begins. Buy your ticket early -- we often sell out in advance for Friday and Saturday nights. You can email or stop by to see if we have room at the last minute, but we cannot guarantee we will have seats available for walk-ins.

Are you part of a chain?

No, our studio is local and family-owned by longtime residents of CO. All of our art is produced in-house at our studio by local Denver artists!

What is the cost of a Sipping N' Painting class at Hampden?

Our two-hour acrylic classes range between $35 and $40 (certified Bob Ross oil painting classes are more) depending on the day, time, and event. You get the same great quality of class whatever the cost.

What is included in the price?

We provide canvases, paints, brushes, easels, aprons - and amazing instruction!  If you do not want to paint on our standard sized 16x20 canvasses, we also have a few other sizes and shapes you can swap out for free, as well as wooden pallet boards for only $10 more (just pay the bartender when you get there)-- you choose! Wine, beer, soda, coffee, etc. are reasonably priced. We also sell a variety of light snacks at our bar for $2 per bag: chips, pretzels, trail mix, etc.

Is alcohol Included?

NO. We sell beer, wine, sodas, coffee, water bottles, coffee drinks and Izzies. Alcoholic beverages start at $5.  We also have some premium wines and craft brews. (Due to CO state law, you may not bring in your own beverages from the outside!) Light snacks like trail mix, pretzels, chips and chocolate are also for sale.

Are Children Allowed?
We do not allow babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in the studio -- it is not a child-proofed space. School-aged children 6 and older are welcome to attend most classes under the close supervision of an paying adult. The minimum age for Friday and Saturday evenings is 12 years of age (Friday and Saturday nights are popular date nights, and it is a more adult atmosphere).  Children 12 and under must be supervised by an adult (with the exception of Summer Kid's Camp). Seats are the same price for each person, regardless of age.

We suggest bringing children ages 6 and older during the day on weekends for a 2 hour class. We may also have occasional classes specifically for children during summer and holiday break weeks.

Can we bring in our infant as long as he/she is in a stroller?

No babies or small children are allowed in the studio... period. Sorry. We love little ones and want them to be safe and happy --which is why they are better left at home with a sitter.

Can I just come and watch?

Sure, but you must pay for a ticket like everyone else! Painting is fun, so we prefer it if you paint with us!

What do I wear?

Whatever you want, so long as includes tops, bottoms and shoes. We provide aprons, but we recommend paint-friendly clothes just to play it safe!

What time do I need to arrive for a class?

We recommend arriving 20-30 minutes early to choose your seats, get your paints and purchase beverages and snacks before we begin. On Friday and Saturday nights, we recommend 30 minutes. If you are meeting others, please arrive 30 minutes ahead of time to ensure you can sit together.

What is your Cancelation /Refund Policy?

Like movie theaters, concerts, plays and sporting events, registering for a class means you have paid for a ticket for one seat, whether you show up to use that seat or not. "No shows" and cancelations that do not give us at least 4 hours notice before the class begins will not be issued a credit, transfer nor refund.

If you paid by credit card and your plans change or you become ill, you may request a refund if you notify us by email at least 4 hours prior to your class (24 hours advance notice required for Bob Ross classes). Ticket fees paid to our ticketing partner are non-refundable, regardless of your timing.

If you registered using a 3rd party voucher, you may request a transfer to another future class by email at least 4 hours before your class.

If we must cancel a class for any reason (bad weather, for example), we will refund your purchase price in full or issue you a studio credit for another class.

How long is a class?

Classes last approximately 2 hours for our regular acrylic public classes (certified Bob Ross classes are longer).

What time are classes held?

Usually 6:30 pm M-F. Weekend times vary (see our calendar for exact times).

Do I have to paint the featured painting for that class?

No. People are welcome to paint whatever they want to paint at our classes. If you choose to follow your own inspiration, we will do our best to give you general coaching and encouragement, but only when we have time in between instructing the rest of the class in the painting for that day. Just ask the staff if you need other colors of paint.

What if I come with my significant other and we don't want two of the exact same painting?

Our instructors teach one painting during each class, but you are always welcome to "go rougue". We have different sizes of canvas and another surface (DIY mini-pallets) you can choose, as well. Just let our staff know you would like to know your options.

Can we host a private party at Sipping N' Painting?

Yes! Contact us for details on hosting your next birthday party, team building event, bachelorette party or family reunion at Sipping n' Painting Hampden.

Can I celebrate my event in your public classes?

Yes! We offer group discounts for groups of 4 or more attending the same public acrylic class together -- just email us before registering to get the group rate! (Discounts and certificates not available for Bob Ross classes.) Please contact us in advance at hampdensipnpaint@gmail.com regarding our food policy if you wish to bring cupcakes or any other food item for your celebration.

Do you have virtual classes?

We do have some pre-recorded virtual classes on our YouTube classes. Just search for "Sipping N' Painting Hampden" on Youtube. We sell complete kits for only $20 each, so you can paint along with the video. If you would like a virtual private event group class, email us at hampdensipnpaint@gmail.com for more info.

Is the space handicapped accessible?

Yes! There is a ramp in front of The Bagel Deli. We have one bathroom with handlebars on the walls. Let us know when you arrive and we will remove a stool at your table so you can pull up your wheelchair or sitting-walker.

Can I bring my service animal?

Pets and companion animals are not allowed inside the studio, with the exception of official service animals for people with disabilities. By federal law, service animals must be trained and well-behaved, or you may be asked to leave with them. They must be kept with you on a short leash at your seat at all times.

Can we arrive early to choose a seat or have a drink?

Yes, please do! Doors open 30 minutes before each class begins. We encourage everyone to come early to choose the best seat, and to get your drinks and refreshments before class begins. Seats are first-come, first served, so if you are coming with a group, please arrive 30 minutes early to make sure your group has seats together.

Do you do off-site events?

At this time, no. We have a beautiful studio in a great location with free parking, so we do not do mobile events. There are other companies in Denver who do.

What Precautions are you taking for COVID 19?

We follow all city, county, state and federal guidelines for your safety.

Disclaimer: By entering the studio, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold the owners, Nancy Cronk and Saul Greenhut, Sipping N’ Painting Colorado, or any of their staff, employees, vendors, associates or volunteers liable for any illness or injury.

We look forward to seeing you soon! Cheers!
